On Friday I was at work and I got a text from PJ along the lines of... "We can get a puppy if you follow some rules." I was in shock. I had NO idea where it came from. I mean I ask him all the time for a kitty or a puppy, but to get a random text like that, I almost had to go home sick. Not really but I was excited. Then I received a HUGE list of rules including, I can't dress the puppy, have to still take it out even when it's cold in the winter... and so on. I said yes yes yes yes yes. Let's go get one!!!
So, I came home, we browsed KSL forever and then found a cute little fluffy Shih Tzu in North Ogden. I texted said we'd be there in an hour, then we shoved some things in a duffle bag for weekend and I sped us down there. (Note to everyone, I never drive, so the fact that I was driving shows some major excitement).
We saw some pictures of the pup before we got there, but the second we saw it I fell even more in love. The thing was HALF the size I expected from the pictures and SO freaking cute.
We named the dog Duke. Duke is a manly, stallion like name, but I also made a joke to PJ about it. (Beware: Potty Humor) When he needs to go poo, he says, "I need to take a Duke." And our dog is a Shih Tzu pronounced like Shit-zu.... it just made lots of sense.
Sorry if that wasn't funny to you. Needless to say, my joke worked and the name stuck. Duke is awesome. We LOVE him!!!!!!!
We snuck him in a hotel with us, since we were going to be in SLC for the next night too. Thank you priceline, free breakfast, hot tubs and laundry service. He only peed on the bed once. And he whined a little when we left to hot tub. I have him his first bath. It turned into half rat/half chihuahua.
Then the next morning we went and visited Wendy, Steve and kids so PJ could meet baby Caleb. And Makenna and Chase were a little nervous about the pup. But by the end Makenna wouldn't let him go! It was so cute. Now she's ready for a hamster.
Since we were in Kaysville we met up with some of our favorite friends Liz and Dave and the pups had their first play date. Coco Chanel was so cute and fluffy. She's the same age as Duke, but Duke would fit inside of her. It's so weird the sizes these dogs range but theyre all cute puppies. Duke learned how to climb a big hill and eat weeds. Then he tried to eat a potato bug... It didn't work out. And seeing him try and end up with the bug on its mustache made me realize just how young the little guy is. So cute! Liz and Dave are pretty cool too!!
Then we went to the Belnaps. And Calli wouldn't put Duke down. She told everyone Duke liked her better.
These girls were the best babysitters while we went to the RSL game for Kyle's birthday!
Then we went home.
Today we had a Memorial Day picnic and first dam.
This weekend rocked!
And now I have this snugly, playful & adorable puppy.
He poops and pees where he should most of the time. Still working on that.
He snuggles with us most of the day. With a few short bursts of energy.
He's so nice with kids. I thought Brody was going to bring out his defensive side. Nope. He basically let Brody choke him without a protest.
He sleeps in all positions. This afternoon everywhere he laid he'd end up like this.
I made him a dog tag. Now I sell these on etsy. Duke is just the cutest model ever.

He makes us happy & he's such a perfect puppy. We have things to work on with him, but so far we are just in love.
