Every year, around the end of June, Kylee Falter will pull out the pen and paper... eventually upgrading to the iphone note app and start making lists. She'd start listing all the possibilities for what we do on that upcoming day July 9th. She'd make a list of people, she'd make a schedule with times, she'd invite them all and all I had to do each year was show up. Brianna, Breanna, Jordan, Monty and Cameron were always somehow involved in the event. Whether it be rafting down the river in yelm, wild waves or the super mall! She was the best birthday planner of all.
It's not only that she planned it all... but she was there for IT ALL. We would be sitting on our beds on opposite ends of the room and we were always the first to sing happy birthday to each other. It was like a little game, like haha, it's your birthday AND it's mine. We would rotate each year who blew out the candles first and we would spend every minute together. And now she's married... and I'm single. And the world is different from I've ever known it.
I'm not with my parents, which that's okay to grow up. My mom still made a special birthday dinner. I'm not with my boyfriend (like I have been for the last three birthday). And I'm not with the twin I spent 18 years with.
Well, I can tell you. The first thing I did when I was 19 was bawl my eyes out to the text Kylee sent me. She really is a best friend I will have FOREVER. No matter how many days go by that I don't see her, I can call her and spill out everything, I can count on her to always have my back... to always defend me, to always listen and to always always love me.
Happy Birthday to the best friend I'll have every year of my life on this earth: Kylee Ann Falter Maughan.
Thank goodness to the amazing friends I have. Who have all made this entire week special for me. I love them all so much. And am so grateful to have them in my life.
Monday: Attempting to cliff jump with Riley, the floating down the river with him and Cody, followed by a date with Chaunce to Olive Garden, a movie and mini fireworks show.
Tuesday: Work, Kylee Geisler's arrival back home, pizza in the park with her and Sherman, prank calls to Connor, licking the bowling ball for strikes wilst bowling with Shane, Trevor and new friends, driving Shane's car and a movie with Keeny-weeny after.
Wednesday: Work, and then a date with Nathan Monson (brace yourself)... mini golf, a few secret errands, a hike up Crimson trail of death-like feelings and being eaten alive by bugs, but to enjoy a movie at the top of everything, under the stars and nothing but the sound of wind in the trees. I love hikes!!! It was such a thought out and such a different date from one I've ever been on.
Thursday: Running around in sprinklers, snow cones and just being happy... obviously with Kylee Geisler.
Friday: Talking to my sister Brooklyn the whole way home, and then planning a sudden trip to Vegas, packing up and realizing we can't go... we get all the way to Salt Lake before Kylee remembered a friend was coming the next day to surprise me from Washington. Disappointing, yes... but we went to the gateway (me in my DI dress), we went to ice cream and Sherman and Kylee are the freakin' best.
MIDNIGHT: Texts came rolling in. As always the first were Kylee, Jordan, Cameron and Brianna. I love these guys. And love you all for wishing me a happy day. With the people I have in my life, it will be... (even if most aren't you aren't willing to drive to 7 peaks.... haha.)
Saturday: Sherman is making waffles, a 7 peaks journey awaits us... I woke up next to Kylee sexy pants Geisler. Could life get any better? No.
My last year as a teenager begins today. Let it be a year of memories :)
