It is officially December. It is officially the holiday
season. It is officially the best month of the year. I have waited eleven
months for December 1st to roll back around. And today it is here, hooray!
When I was a kid, I waited for Christmas to see the
presents, to eat the food, to see the people, but most of all… the presents. I
wanted to see Santa and hear his reindeer (which turns out to be my dad’s tambourine
outside my window, awesome).
When I believed in Santa, Christmas was magical. Life was
magical! I found out the other day that my little 10 year old brother heard the
rumor that Santa wasn’t real a couple years ago, but he still believes. Wow,
tears from my heart right now… because that
is just precious. I want him to believe as long as possible, because those were
the days when nothing in life could hurt you.
Santa or no Santa,
the magic will not disappear.
Christmas is incredible. The whole holiday season is
happy and cheerful and loving. Communities come together, people give what they
have- and presents-schmesents, I look forward to this month all year because it
means family and love and thankfulness and
is a celebration for the man who gave us the ultimate gift, Jesus Christ, our
Savior.
I have several more blogs this month, to bear my
Christmas-happy soul to all of you.
But to start December off right, I had to get in the
holiday spirit.
December is a month for hot chocolate, puffy coats,
mittens and gloves, hot cider, egg nog (if you’re one of those people- ick),
Christmas songs, decorations, snowmen, temple lights and even the light-up deer
that sit in yards. It is a month full of symbols and activities to represent the
holidays. Christian or non-Christian, Christmas or Hanukkah, it is a time to
give, life just feels happier.
I am excited.
I am excited for temple lights.
I am excited that I have a Christmas tree at home.
I am excited to be with my family.
I am excited to make a “Days to Christmas Break Chain”
with elf quotes.
But most of all, I am ecstatic to believe in Jesus
Christ.
I am ecstatic to know that I have Him in my life.
I am ecstatic to celebrate his birth.
And starting December 1st, I want to remind
myself the true meaning of Christmas.
Give a little more this year. A little more time, a
little more love, a little more smiles…
Make it a Christmas to remember.
HAPPY DECEMBER!!!
Remember, the best
way to spread Christmas cheer is by singing loud for all to hear.
