I'm studying the Pearl of Great Price right now.
1. I have never studied it in depth
2. I was told it is one of the ways to prepare for the temple... and I want to do all I can to be ready to enter the most sacred place on earth.
Just from Moses chapter one I am learning things in great depth.
Moses 1:6 "...all things are present with me, for I know them all."
In my institute class and in the study guide for the Pearl of Great Price... this topic has come up quite a bit. How do we have free agency if God already knows everything we will do?
God knows everything, but he did not decide everything. We make all of our choices, yet God knows what we will choose. It's hard for me to explain and for a while it was hard for me to grasp... and then I found this quote.
Elder Neal A. Maxwell said, "God, his is not simply a predicting based solely upon the past. In ways which are not clear to us, he actually sees, rather than foresees, the future—because all things are, at once, present before him."
And Joseph Smith said, "Without the knowledge of all things God would not be able to save any portion of his creatures. For it is the knowledge which he has of all things from the beginning to the end that enables him to give that understanding to his creatures by which they are made partakers of eternal life. And if it were not for the idea existing in the minds of men that God has all knowledge, it would be impossible for them to exercise faith in him."
Without faith in the knowledge that God can see all... we cannot exercise faith in him. Some of these concepts are complicated to talk and teach about. But God's plan is flawless. He created us the way He did for a reason... and I have faith in Him. I have faith that He can guide and direct my life because He does know all. And I have a testimony that He loves me... even though I sin... and even though He knows that I have many imperfections to reveal. I love my Savior and my Heavenly Father. This church is so true!!!
